EMBEDnet integrates IrPro with ATI’s Nucleus Real-Time Operating System product family

EMBEDnet Inc. announces its partnering ventureship with Accelerated Technology, Inc. "By combining ATI's long standing, quality, RTOS products with our IrDA protocal stack, we can offer design engineers an immediate, cost-effective solution that enables infrared capabilities for their embedded systems. Additionally, for existing customers of ATI, this collaboration facilitates efficient integration of IrDA capabilities into nucleus based products, thereby shortening development time" stated Bob Gastineau, EMBEDnet's co-owner and founder. Both companies target high volume markets like smart phones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), digital cameras, palmtop computers, and hand held devices, as well as, medical diagnostic devices, printers, storage devices, pagers, watches, and data collection devices.
"Infrared popularity has grown in recent years and will continue to play an increasingly important role in wireless data communications" said Tim Mackey, President of Mountaintop Marketing, EMBEDnet’s marketing firm. With the growing popularity of handheld devices, the issue of wireless data communication has emerged to the forefront of many embedded systems designs. IrPro was developed to meet that demand. IrPro, is a high quality IrDA compliant primary and secondary protocol stack which offers the following benefits:
  • Support speeds from 9.6 Kbps to 4Mbps.
  • Provides support for Intel, ARM, MIPS, Motorola, Hitachi SH, and other popular CPU's.
  • The stack is easily configured in makefile and header files.
  • Interfaces with cooperative, preemptive, or custom (in house) operating systems.
  • Inter-operates with all IrDA compliant devices.
  • Includes detailed application interface and device driver documentation.
  • Includes application program examples for all protocols.
  • See IrDA Protocol Software Stack Data Sheet for additional information.
With "the time-to-market pressures that squeeze development schedules…" Embedded Systems Programming Magazine "…suggest(s) that buying – not building – is a Good Idea." The IrPro IrDA protocol stack offers a lower cost alternative to the competitor’s higher priced products without sacrificing quality. And with its non-royalty based pricing schedule, IrPro is the key to interoperability for portable devices.
